Selina Nichols, CEO 

Selina Nichols is the CEO of Deaf Heartbeat, Inc. She is a Soda/Sibling of a Deaf Adult who learned how to sign later in life. She has certifications in ASL 1-4 and ASL Medical Terminology from University of Georgia Continuing Education. She has Interpreted at the 2018 Atlanta Comic Con and has traveled to the Jamaican Deaf Village twice on Mission. Her passion is to unite families with hearing and deaf members via sign language. She lives in Rockdale County, GA with her husband, Randy and daughter Mckenzie.

Roxanne Hoy, CoFounder & Lead Teacher 

Roxanne Hoy is the CoFounder of Deaf Heartbeat and Lead Teacher. She is the sister to Selina. Roxanne was born deaf and attended Austin School for the Deaf. She loves educating people about Deaf awareness and is an expert fisher woman! She currently resides in Seguin, Texas with her longtime girlfriend, Maricella. 

Maricella Castro, Teaching Team 

Maricella Castro is on our teaching team. She was born deaf in Matamoras, Mexico and is employed at Tyson Foods Inc in Seguin, Tx. Maricella is fluent in both Spanish and American Sign Language. She has a passion for the outdoors and the Deaf Community. She lives in Seguin, Texas with her partner, Roxanne Hoy. 

Chrissy James, Teaching Team 

Chrissy James is one of our Deaf Teachers. She was born in Jersey City, NJ. and studied Nutrition Concentration and Food Science at Montclair State University. Chrissy is fluent in ASL . She has 1 daughter, Chrysta, and lives in Dekalb county. 


Mary McLaughlin, Communications Director 

Mary McLaughlin is our Communications Director. She is currently studying to be a Counselor at Liberty University and is excited to be able to converse with any Deaf patients she may encounter. Mary lives in Rockdale County and is active at Discover Point Church. 


Sue Miller, Welcome Coordinator

Sue Miller is our Welcome Coordinator. She has a knack for making people feel right at home! She is enthusiastic about being with the Deaf community and learning American Sign Language. She lives In Newton County and attends Discover Point Church.
